Happy New Year! I am not sure how, but somehow it already feels like we are months into 2026 and it’s only January. Registration for the first administration of the updated NCIDQ Exam in April 2026 is in full swing. We are excited about the new exam structure and look forward to hearing from candidates about their experiences.

CIDQ is an organization that values lifelong learning and development, and the Board of Directors is no exception to this value. Our President and President Elect have already begun this process by joining me at the ASAE CEO Symposium, focusing on being an organization and board operating with highly effective organizational governance and leadership. The rest of our Board will be attending a similar conference with me in May. These events support the Board in its roles as organizational leaders and will support them in executing the Board’s important work for 2026. The Board’s dedication and commitment to CIDQ are one of the main reasons we can be successful today and ready for tomorrow.

Over the course of 2026, CIDQ, with the dedicated volunteers, will be supporting the organization through the development of a revised strategic plan, the review of our organizational Bylaws, the continued development and administration of the NCIDQ, and so much more.

Another core value for CIDQ is our focus on strong, collaborative partnerships. In 2026, these partnerships with organizations such as ASID, IIDA, and IDC will support CIDQ’s commitment to protecting the public’s health, safety, and welfare through the reasonable regulation of interior design.  This is the third year that ASID, IIDA, and CIDQ staff and leadership have partnered to support the reasonable regulation of interior design across the United States. 2026 marks the beginning of a committed partnership between CIDQ and IDC to support regulation throughout Canada. Legislative sessions are well underway, and our 2026 work is just beginning.
