President’s Message
As we jump into a new year, I am honored to serve as your CIDQ President. For those who may not know me, I have been an Interior Design and Project Manager based in Minnesota for the last decade. Currently, I work as a Senior Project Manager at JLL in Minneapolis and have been volunteering with CIDQ for the previous eight years. My commitment to interior design extends beyond my professional practice, as I have also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota. Teaching interior design students and mentoring the next generation of our profession has been a privilege over the last several years.

Reflecting on 2025, our industry demonstrated remarkable resilience and innovation. Despite economic uncertainties, interior design professionals have adapted with creative solutions, embracing sustainable practices and integrating technology. The wellness-focused design movement gained significant momentum, while adaptive reuse projects showcased our ability to breathe new life into existing spaces.
I’m excited to welcome our newest Board members, Marcus Appleby and McKenzie Cooper, whose expertise will enhance our organization’s capabilities. We’re equally thrilled to have Charrisse Johnston stepping into the President Elect role, bringing an international perspective and connections to guide CIDQ forward. As we celebrate these additions, I extend heartfelt gratitude to our departing Board members, Erin Jennings and Ashley Kirkland, whose dedicated service and invaluable contributions have strengthened our mission and advanced our profession.
Looking ahead, I’m optimistic about the opportunities before us. Our goals include championing professional standards, supporting member development, and elevating the recognition of interior design as an essential profession. Together, we will achieve these objectives and strengthen our community.
Wishing everyone a prosperous and successful 2026!
Carol Erklouts
