CEO's Message
Q4 Report from CIDQ CEO
Fall is one of our busiest times at CIDQ. Summer is over. Schools are back in session. Our travel schedule ramps up and everything is humming with activity.
We have just completed our most recent Practice Analysis; the survey of the interior design profession conducted every five years which drives the content and weighting of future iterations of the NCIDQ Exam. We are busy analyzing the response data now to determine what changes may ultimately result.
Our Fall exam administration is underway and will continue through the month. As I write this in late September, we are on track to exceed last year’s candidate purchases across all three sections of the NCIDQ Exam.
The fall NCIDQ Certificate renewal period is in full swing. Don’t forget to complete your CEU requirements – and thank you for maintaining your ACTIVE NCIDQ Certificate. Not only does it enable CIDQ to provide your qualifications to any regulated jurisdiction of your choice, but it also permits us to carry out important work in other areas such as advocacy, exam security, and exam marketing.
Over the past few months, CIDQ representatives have participated in both the NCEES and CLARB annual meetings, the FARB Innovation & Regulation Conference, and delivered numerous presentations about the NCIDQ Exam to students across the United States and Canada.
Recently, you may have heard sponsored messaging from us on National Public Radio (NPR) in the U.S. and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Canada. This is part of a pilot public awareness campaign to better articulate the nature, value, and importance of what you as NCIDQ Certified interior designers bring to a project and the critical role you play in public protection. This is an exciting and unprecedented step forward for CIDQ so keep an ear out. I think you will be proud.
Lastly, after what will be nearly ten years with CIDQ, I plan to retire as CEO effective March 31, 2025. It has been my pleasure and privilege to serve in this capacity and I feel very good about CIDQ’s organizational positioning and what we’ve been able to accomplish together. I’m grateful to CIDQ’s Board of Directors (past and present), our regulatory board membership, our incredible volunteers, and especially the members of CIDQ’s headquarters team with whom it has been my honor to work. Thank you! The search for CIDQ’s next CEO is underway and being led by our very capable search committee chaired by CIDQ At-Large Board member Ashley Kirkland and supported by the firm DriWaterstone Human Capital. With your continued support, I look forward to watching CIDQ continue to grow and thrive – into the next 50 years!
