CIDQ and IDC Launch Canadian Advocacy Collaborative
August 6, 2025
There is a need for increased regulation of the interior design profession, along with a desire for a unified, strategic advocacy front. To address these challenges, the Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ) and the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) are proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking joint initiative: the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative.
This new initiative represents a powerful alliance between two leading organizations committed to protecting the integrity and standards of interior design, most importantly, the health, safety, and welfare of the public. By combining resources, expertise, and networks, the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative will support the development and promotion of public policy that upholds rigorous professional standards and safeguards the public interest.
The benefits of this collaboration will be made available to CIDQ member jurisdictions in Canada, offering them enhanced tools, strategic guidance, and coordinated support in their advocacy efforts.
“IDC looks forward to collaborating with CIDQ on this initiative to help support provincial associations in their efforts to pursue increased regulation of the interior design profession in their jurisdictions,” said Trevor Kruse, IDC CEO.
“We are proud to announce this new collaborative advocacy initiative between CIDQ and IDC. This effort underscores our shared commitment to advancing and supporting fair, effective, and reasonable regulation of the interior design profession in Canada. CIDQ is excited to offer this new resource to our member jurisdictions as part of our ongoing efforts to support regulatory excellence and public protection,” said Rebecca Moden, CIDQ CEO.
The application period for participation in the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative will open in September 2025. More details, including eligibility criteria and application guidelines, will be shared in the coming weeks.
Together, we can ensure that the future of regulation of the interior design profession remains strong, credible, and effective in Canada.
