NCIDQ Certificate Renewal
Stay Active. Stay Recognized.
Renewing your NCIDQ Certificate each year ensures you maintain access to valuable benefits and continue showcasing your expertise as a certified interior designer.
Certification must be renewed annually. Renewal month is set based on your original certification—either April or October.

Why should I renew my NCIDQ Certificate?
Renewing your certificate keeps your status active and provides continued access to key benefits, including:
- The ability to use the NCIDQ appellation (e.g., Jane Smith, NCIDQ, ASID)
 - Display of your NCIDQ digital badge
 - Inclusion in the public directory of NCIDQ Certified interior designers reflecting your active status
 - Credential verification to regulatory boards
 - Eligibility for CIDQ leadership opportunities
 - Ongoing promotion of your professional standing and expertise
 - Support for the continued integrity and value of the NCIDQ Exam

How does my renewal support the profession?
Your renewal fee helps CIDQ:
- Educate the public and legislators about the health, safety, and welfare impact of interior design
 - Advocate for legal recognition and licensure of the profession
 - Develop tools such as explainer videos, handbooks, and infographics
 - Maintain a portal for member boards to access certificate holders’ exam results, transcripts and work experience
 - Conduct practice analyses and item bank audits to build, strengthen, and keep the exam current
 - Expand global access to the NCIDQ Exam
 - Provide preliminary scoring for select exam sections

What are the guidelines and fees for renewal?
- Annual renewal fee is $85 (non-refundable)
 - Continuing education hours are required
 - Renewal is due in April or October based on your certificate expiration date
 - 30-day grace period exists after expiration date
 - Added reinstatement fee of $85 applies if payment is made after grace period
 - Late renewals are not prorated

If your certificate becomes inactive due to non-renewal, you will lose access to all NCIDQ benefits, must refrain from using the NCIDQ appellation and must pay both the renewal and reinstatement fees to reactivate.
Note: Renewal notices are sent to the email address in your MyNCIDQ account. CIDQ recommends using a personal email address to ensure reliable delivery.
What are the continuing education requirements?
Active certificate holders must:
- Agree to the NCIDQ Appellation Agreement and Code of Ethics.
 - Complete 5 hours of Health, Safety, Welfare (HSW)-focused continuing education annually.

If you are licensed in a regulated state or province, your local continuing education requirements fulfill CIDQ’s requirement.
If you are not registered in a regulated jurisdiction or live in an unregulated jurisdiction, you must independently complete and attest to completing 5 HSW continuing education hours per year during your renewal.
CIDQ conducts random audits to verify compliance. You can find eligible HSW programming at AEC Daily and similar platforms.
