CEO’s Message

Spring always seems to bring this renewed sense of excitement and refreshment. It provides a backdrop for what comes next. There’s a real sense that something big is just around the corner—and I believe that’s true not only for CIDQ, but for the profession as a whole.

As we enter spring, our call for volunteers for the CIDQ Board of Directors and Leadership Development Council has opened. The volunteer leaders who fill these roles are crucial to the success of CIDQ’s mission. I encourage you, as you read this, to consider if this opportunity is right for you.

The legislative session is in full swing, and the partnership we have established with ASID, IIDA, and IDC is the reason we have been so successful in ensuring public protection through the reasonable regulation of interior design. This work is vital, and it takes everyone, from national organization leadership, local leadership, and practitioners, to ensure our success in educating lawmakers and the public about the impactful work interior designers do.

One of the biggest events over this last quarter is the release of the ICOR Practice Overlap Guidance document. This resource is the result of years of collaboration between interior designers, landscape architects, architects, engineers, and surveyors. This collaborative effort continues to support the education of regulators, lawmakers, and the public on the roles of each profession, the work that is unique to their individual skill set, and the overlap of their roles as well.

As the work continues, I look forward to the opportunities the future holds. I am excited to be on this journey with you. If you see me out and about during summer conference season, be sure to stop me and say hello.

Wishing you a refreshing spring season.
